Magnolia and Garden, 2008, oil on linen, 34 x 36 inches
Garden
I became a gardener in 1981 when I moved to Lafontaine and discovered I had rich soil.
Ten years later I had extensive perennial gardens and an ambition to paint them.
My earliest oils were thickly painted studies of the overall views of the gardens
and often had biblical imagery in them.
More recently, I have painted individual flowers with the house,
gardens and surrounding landscape in the background.
